The Bell Policy Center and ProgressNow Colorado, liberal organizations fighting three tax-slashing initiatives on the November ballot, have jointly produced a video that, at first glance, looks more like a children's show on PBS than a political message.

Gordon and I really enjoy watching CBS Sunday Morning, especially the segment, "The Fast Draw," in which Mitch Butler and Josh Landis have a very unique way of communicating our cultural issues through some very creative drawing (cartoonish) techniques. It's similar to the way UPS advertises their commercials through their thought-provoking artist, who sketches and erases his drawings to more easily communicate their commercial message.

A friend sent me an email a few days ago, with a link to a YouTube.com video produced by the Bell Policy Center in cooperation with ProgressNow.

The video is titled, "The Bad 3: In Plain English."

"The best explanation you can get in under five minutes," my friend wrote. Yes, it seems we have become a species that formulates its world-view based largely on five-minute YouTube videos.

FLEMING – Frenchman RE-3 Board of Education is the latest board to approve a resolution opposing Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101.

They passed the resolution unanimously at their regular meeting on Tuesday after a discussion on the negative impacts the passage of these would have not only on the school district, but on all the governing entities of Logan County as well.

The Bell Policy Center brought out a video Friday explaining what the "Bad Three" tax-slashing proposed constitutional amendments would mean for Colorado and urging citizens to vote them down in November. The progressive organization argues that the initiatives – Amendments 60 and 61 and proposition 101 –would effectively impoverish the state and force the elimination of essential services. That assessment is shared by most all of the major candidates for office and by lawmakers on all sides of the political spectrum.

Metro will purchase bonds worth almost $60 million to fund building the Hotel Learning Center, a portion of Metro's Master Plan.

Because of Metro's timeliness in acquiring the bonds, proposed Amendments 60 and 61 should not affect building plans for the HLC. Metro President Stephen Jordan and two staff members visited California Sept. 19 to research Metro bonding issues if 60 and 61 pass according to Tim Carroll, assistant director of Media Relations.

From The Durango Herald (Joe Hanel):

Proposition 101 would do much more than put FASTER in reverse. It would cut auto-registration fees to almost nothing, cut the state income tax by nearly 25 percent and eliminate almost all telephone fees and taxes. "The total impact of 101 on the state budget, in a word, it's devastating," said Carol Hedges of the Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute.
