DENVER, CO???. Although most Coloradans have access to the kinds of opportunities that enable them to get ahead in life, significant health, educational and economic barriers still stand in the way of far too many families, according to a new report issued by the nonprofit Bell Policy Center.

In a new report, the Bell Policy Center assembles the most recent data available to assess the chances for opportunity for a wide spectrum of Colorado residents. The 102-page report, Colorado: The State of Opportunity 2005, looks at 39 indicators and makes 55 recommendations for improving opportunity in the state.

The Bell Policy Center calls on candidates for governor, the state legislature and other races to commit to an opportunity agenda on behalf of Colorado families. The agenda is explained in Bell???s new Blueprint for Opportunity, a guide to practical ideas that promote opportunity in Colorado. The guide makes 37 recommendations for improving education, health care, employment and retirement in Colorado.
